Partner Maria Gerakaris
Qualified with Hill Taylor Dickinson in 1997, subsequently practiced at Watson Farley & Williams, joining Jackson Parton in January 1998. She has been a partner of the firm since 2008 and is also a supporting member of the LMAA.
Area of practice
Maria has extensive experience in commercial and shipping litigation and focuses mainly on dry work. She has particular interest in hire/off-hire, speed, consumption, and bunker disputes; engine damage; demurrage and dead freight; cargo damage and apportionment under the Inter-Club agreement; jurisdiction agreements, arrests, detention and duress claims and anti-suit injunctions.
Maria brings her seafaring heritage to each new instruction reflecting on her Greek origin, from the Islands of Chios and Andros.
Maria is fluent in Greek and has carried out extensive negotiations and discussions in Greek. She understands intermediate-level French, and basic Italian and Spanish.
