Assistant Solicitor Baris Oztoprak
Baris joined Jackson Parton in 2013 and qualified as a solicitor in February 2015. Prior to joining us, he was called to the Bar by Middle Temple and worked at the United Nations, Geneva. He holds an LL.M. in Maritime Law from the University College London and carried out further studies at the Hague Academy of International Law.
Area of practice
Baris works on both dry and wet shipping litigation matters. He has gained experience in a wide range of cases including charter party, bill of lading and commodity disputes and various admiralty disputes arising out of fires and explosions, total loss and limitation of liability claims.
Baris has travelled to investigate incidents on board vessels to collect evidence and prepare witness statements. He has also been involved in a variety of disputes involving Turkish interests particularly owners, charterers and cargo interests.
Baris is fluent in Turkish.
